A beautiful amusement park divided into themed areas, each with its own unique characteristics. I would have preferred to buy a skip-the-line ticket to save time and have the chance to go on all the rides, but I still managed to visit several attractions!

The experience, the rides and the enjoyment I had was incredible. My favourite ride was the flying dinosaur, I don't think I'd experience it in the Gold Coast, despite us having the Biggest Roller Coaster in the Southern Hemisphere. This theme park is second-to-none compared to the previous ones I've been to

Entering after 3pm was not permitted for Osaka pass holders which meant it was for individual customers only. Instructions to redeem the tickets were very clear. I also checked Klook but it worked out to be minutely cheaper this way

Top things to do in Osaka

General overview

  • Ways to visit: Choose 1, 1.5, or 2-day Studio Pass, add Express Pass to skip the lines, book VIP Tour, or bundle with Osaka attractions.

A smooth start at the gates

Arrive early, scan your QR ticket at the turnstiles, and clear bag checks before stepping onto Hollywood Boulevard. Download the official app to monitor wait times and check timed-entry slots for Super Nintendo World™ and other popular zones.

Step into fully themed worlds

From the neon-bright chaos of Minion Park to the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade™ in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, each zone feels like its own movie set. Super Nintendo World™ immerses you in interactive games, moving coins, and Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge™.

Thrills, simulators & family classics

Ride high-speed coasters like The Flying Dinosaur, take on cinematic 4D adventures, or board family favorites like JAWS™. Attractions range from intense launches and inversions to immersive dark rides and theatre-style shows.

Live shows & character moments

Catch stage performances, 4D live shows, and seasonal entertainment throughout the day. Characters appear across zones, making spontaneous photo stops part of the experience.

Food with themed flair

Dine inside wizard taverns, character-themed cafés, and casual eateries spread across the park. Quick-service counters keep things efficient, especially during peak hours.

End with night energy

As evening falls, lights transform the park’s coasters and plazas. Night rides often feel shorter in queue and more dramatic in atmosphere — a strong way to close your visit.

Things to know before booking your Universal Studios Japan tickets

Booking window

Weekends, school holidays, and peak travel periods sell out quickly, especially Express Pass and VIP Tour slots. Book at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance during busy seasons. All tickets on this page are non-refundable.

What a Studio Pass includes

A Studio Pass gives you full-day access to all rides, shows, and attractions across the park. It does not reduce ride wait times. Popular attractions can see waits of 1.5 to 2.5 hours per ride on busy days. Choose 1, 1.5, or 2-day access depending on how relaxed you want your visit to be.

The big decision: Studio Pass vs Express

A Studio Pass grants entry. An Express Pass reduces ride wait times on select attractions once per ride and may include timed entry to specific zones depending on your option. On peak days, Express can save 4 to 10 hours in total queue time.

Express Pass timing rules

Ride time slots included in your Express Pass are assigned by the park. You must enter each attraction during your designated time window. Express does not skip security or park entry queues. It only reduces regular ride wait times.

Super Nintendo World™ & THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER™ access

Entry to Super Nintendo World™ & THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER™ may require timed entry. Some ticket types include guaranteed timed entry. Once you leave the area, re-entry is not allowed.

VIP Tour requires separate admission

The 3-Hour VIP Tour includes priority ride access and a guide, but it does not include park admission. A Studio Pass must be purchased separately. This option suits visitors who want structured priority access within a limited timeframe.

Combo tickets vs standalone entry

If you plan to explore Osaka beyond the park, combo tickets bundle USJ with attractions such as Osaka Castle, Harukas 300, teamLab Botanical Garden, or a 1-day Osaka Amazing Pass. These simplify multi-attraction planning.

Eligibility and restrictions

Tickets on this page are valid for non-Japanese passport holders only. Some rides have height and health restrictions. Re-entry into the park after exit is not permitted.
